Nautical

15 May

I spent the weekend up by the beach in New Hampshire, sitting on my porch getting some sun and reading the ever-so-scandalous Fifty Shades of Grey.  It’s disturbing and crazy, but I’m hooked!   Please excuse the rubber flip flops.  I forgot to bring my shoes! Lately I’ve been stocking up on jersey dresses for our honeymoon road-trip in France.  They pack so easily and never wrinkle.  A staple if I’m going to try to cram 2 weeks worth of clothes in a carry on!

Dress: TJ Maxx
Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana (discontinued, but I love these)
Necklace: Max & Chloe
Flip Flops: Old Navy

So…. I got married on Saturday!!

It was just a small, intimate ceremony with our families.   Our WEDDING is at a beautiful Connecticut vineyard in June and I cannot wait!!  However, being officially married beforehand takes a bit of the pressure off!  And gives me some more bling!

Spiking the Punch

1 May

Lately, I’ve been seeing Spike The Punch necklaces allll over the blog world and I just needed to get one of their fabulous pieces for myself!  Although I am dying for an always-sold-out Rainey, I thought that the Addison would be a good addition in the meantime!  Apparently a bunch of Raineys were listed this weekend, but in my post-bachelorette state I was not on Twitter early enough to see the announcement.  Boo.  Needless to say I will be STALKING Spike the Punch on Twitter until they post another Rainey announcement.

Sweater (w/ DIY jewel buttons): J.Crew
Shirt: J.Crew (old)
Necklace: “Addison” Spike the Punch
Skirt: H&M (similar)

Almost married!

30 Apr

This weekend in Boston was my Bachelorette Party!!  All my close friends and family came to celebrate and we had a great time!  Half the night people somehow kept missing my veil and Bachelorette sash and were yelling “Happy Birthday” at me.  I played along and happily pretended I was 21 again!  Others, who saw the veil, shouted things like “Why?!” and “Don’t do it!” which I thought was incredibly rude, but again I played along and told them that I needed health insurance and my Green Card.  HA!  I wouldn’t let anyone ruin my night.  I did have a crown, after all!

Dinner in the North End in all my feathery pink glory

Besties from home who traveled very far to celebrate with me!

A poor guy in the bar got handed about 5 cameras for this picture!

Although I had a strict “no man parts” policy, the girls managed to sneak a few man gummies into my cannoli!

Are you a Foodie?

25 Apr

I recently came across this “Food Challenge List” online while reading a college friend’s blog.   As a child I was a VERY picky eater.  My mom would joke and call me Plain Jane, because everything I ordered was so boring and plain, with all dressings and sauces very explicitly asked for on the side.  As I got older I definitely branched out a bit more and started to try some new things, although I am notorious for what we call “princessing” my meals, as I am always asking for some kind of substitute or swap with another menu item.  I wanted to see how much of a foodie I have become, so I’ve crossed off everything on the list that I’ve tried so far…

Chic workspaces

23 Apr

We are currently in the midst of re-painting and re-decorating our home office.  It’s just a little alcove, but previously it was not a very work-friendly space.  It was mostly my fiance’s office, and had all of his computer things, but we’re switching it up so that it will be a nice environment for both of us to work!  After painting over the orange with a light-friendly pistachio green, we will be installing a bar-height floating desk with some snazzy “invisible” cord storage.  Of course I’ve been Pinterest-ing like crazy to find the perfect decor for our new workspace.

Here are some home office workspaces that I just love:

So light and bright! I wish I had windows on the ceiling!

For an antique-lover like me, this shabby chic office would be a dream!

I definitely want it to be a chic workspace, but there is a catch since this is a “His & Hers” workspace.  Nothing too girly or manly, as the space has to be comfortable and productive for both of us.  I will soon be scouring the Container Store for some great storage options, as we will also be installing a high shelf and possibly a bench with bookshelf storage underneath.  I do know I want to install a built in cork board strip on the wall right along the back of the desk so I can pin up some inspiration, notes, etc.

After the desk is installed and the painting is complete I will get more serious about the decor,  but are there any must-haves for a  home office besides a corkboard, printer, cord storage and shelving??   Let me know!
